Ukraine Families Need Your Help Now

The Terror Vladamir Putin has unleashed is literally tearing families and people in Ukraine apart. Please donate now.
Women, their children, and the elderly are heading west away from the fighting. In many cases, they are on foot. The temperature is just under 40 degrees.

More than 4 Million Ukrainians may be displaced by the war Vladimir Putin has unleashed.

They aren’t able to withdraw money from banks and the shelves in stores have been emptied of food.

We have a foreign exchange student from Ukraine living with us, Dasha. She finally located her mother after hours of frantic attempts to reach her by phone. She’d driven 36 hours nonstop to reach relative safety in southwestern Ukraine. She’s been unable to reach her grandparents or her father. It’s likely that he’s somewhere on the front lines. There are reports that two of her high school friends have been killed in the fighting. On top of all of this, she’s not sure whether her family will be able to continue to support her schooling here in the US given the situation in Ukraine.

I served in Vietnam. Unless you have actually been in a war zone, it’s impossible to understand the terror and devastation shelling, bombs, and street-to-street fighting create for those caught in the midst of it.

What I know now is that it’s also horrendous for those separated from their families. Trying to sift through news reports, texts, social media posts, and highly intermittent phone connections to determine the location and safety of family and friends produces continual fear, uncertainty, and trauma after trauma.

I want to do more than just hold and comfort Dasha while she cries, or to make sure she gets some food down before she falls asleep.

I’m Donating to the following charities.
Please find it in your heart to do the same.
